Unveiling Canada's Biggest Casino: The Great Canadian Casino Resort in Toronto
Updated: 2023-06-22Canada's most ambitious and grand casino project has finally seen the light of day. Spanning a whopping 33 acres, the Great Canadian Casino Resort in Toronto now holds the title as the largest casino in the country. An area equivalent to BMO Field, Scotiabank, and the Rogers Centre combined, this casino is setting new standards in the gaming and entertainment industry.
Impeccable Facilities and Entertainment Options
The colossal casino, located in north Etobicoke right beside the Woodbine Racetrack, boasts 145 table games and an impressive 4,800 slot machines, providing unparalleled gaming options. In addition to the gaming area, the casino also features a multi-level garage with 3,800 parking spots, an attached 400-room hotel, and a 5,000-seat live entertainment auditorium set to complete within months.
A Billion-Dollar Entertainment Hub
Matthew Anfinson, CEO of Great Canadian Entertainment, announced the opening of the casino, a project that required approximately $1 billion and five years to complete. Despite initial controversies and debates when the idea was first proposed to the Toronto city council over a decade ago, the project has finally come to fruition and is set to contribute significantly to the local economy and job market.
Projected Visits and Economic Impact
With the potential of attracting 12 million visitors next year, the new casino is expected to generate substantial tax revenue, while simultaneously creating 2,000 new jobs and supporting the local horse racing industry. The Ontario government, along with the City of Toronto, stands to share in the lucrative revenue generated by the casino.
Can Toronto Handle Another Casino?
While some might question the need for another casino in Toronto, local councillor Vincent Crisanti is optimistic. He suggests the city has room for one more, while underlining the importance of focusing on the successful rollout of the newly-opened Great Canadian Casino Resort.
